Renewal runs on a 2-year cycle. Google offers a shorter 1-hour renewal exam for candidates within the eligibility window, or renewal through designated Google Skills content, as an alternative to retaking the full standard exam.

Professional Cloud Security Engineer

CSE runs the same two hours but with a narrower five-domain structure: configuring access, securing communications and establishing boundary protection, ensuring data protection, managing operations, and supporting compliance requirements. There are no case studies — every question is a standalone scenario built around a specific Google Cloud security control.

Where PCA asks you to weigh an entire system design against six competing pillars, CSE goes deep on one of those pillars.
